The City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality is classified as a Category A municipality by the Municipal Demarcation Board in terms of Section 4 of the Local Government: Municipal Structures Act, 1998 (Act 117 of 1998). The incorporation, which took place in May 2011 after the local government elections, enlarged Tshwane to 6 345 km². World AirNews is Africa’s oldest and widest-circulating aviation news journal, now in its 50th year of publication.

In January 2021 World Airnews became a digital only publication as a direct result of the Covid-19 pandemic and the effect this virus had on aviation across the globe – grounding fleets and crew and effectively putting a stop to world travel in March 2021. As time goes on and aviation recovers we do plan to bring back a print version but this will – as always – be dependent on the advertising support we receive.

Embracing this new technology our digital or e-Magazine is available on desktop and mobile. Subscribers ( paid and free) receive an email notification each month and can read our latest news, features and articles.

The print readership survey statistics reflected below relate to one conducted when we were still printing copies and posting them out to the rest of Africa – although out dated it does make for an interesting read.
